Ann Johnson is an accomplished attorney and Of Counsel at Roven Camp, focusing on personal injury cases. She has extensive experience advocating for clients in civil litigation, particularly those affected by human trafficking and personal injury issues. Her unwavering commitment to justice fuels Ann's work as she supports her clients throughout the legal process, helping them achieve the compensation and recognition they deserve.

As a native of Houston and a strong advocate for victims' rights, Ann brings over two decades of legal experience to Roven Camp. Her journey in law began with a B.A. from the University of Texas, followed by a J.D. from South Texas College of Law in Houston. Ann started her career as a briefing attorney for Justice Leslie Brock Yates at the Fourteenth Court of Appeals. She later worked as a Harris County District Attorney’s Office prosecutor.

Ann's commitment to justice inspired her to co-found the Harris County CARE Court, a program aimed at supporting child victims of human trafficking. This experience shaped her compassionate approach to personal injury law, where she diligently represents individuals with empathy.

Significant Cases and Experience

Throughout her career, Ann has successfully represented individuals in high-stakes cases, often involving vulnerable populations.

One of her landmark cases, In re B.W., resulted in the Texas Supreme Court establishing protections for child victims of exploitation, reshaping how juvenile and human trafficking cases are addressed across the state.

As a founding partner at Johnson Martinez LLC, she advocated for both trafficking victims and indigent defendants, demonstrating her strong sense of justice for all.

In addition to her private practice, Ann has served as an adjunct professor of law at South Texas College of Law Houston since 2001. There, she teaches courses on voir dire, jury communication, and trial litigation. Her extensive experience and dedication to the legal profession have made her a respected leader and mentor.

Legislative Service

Ann’s passion for advocacy extends beyond her legal practice. Since 2021, she has represented District 134 in the Texas House of Representatives, focusing on public safety, healthcare access, and education reform. Her legislative work aligns closely with her values and reinforces her commitment to protecting those affected by injury, exploitation, and injustice.

Personal Life

Ann and her wife, artist Sonya Cuellar, married as soon as it was legal to do so; they happily reside in Houston with their three rescue dogs. Ann is the daughter of former State Representative Jake Johnson and former Judge Carolyn Marks Johnson, who inspired her dedication to public service and her commitment to championing justice for all.
